We’re fitting in one last BBQ of the summer season. We’re lucky that it’s beautiful weather here in Chicago, so it’s perfect for spending a weekend outside. Here are some dessert ideas for casual outdoor entertaining, on a banana theme.
This week the United States Postal Service announced they’ll be producing stamps in honor of the 50th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Continue reading “Good Grief!”
Yesterday was National Relaxation Day, a concept apparently originating in Britain. (Check out the links below to learn more…) I think a relaxing Saturday deserves a relaxing Sunday to accompany it.
For the past couple of weeks I’ve been participating in WordPress’s Blogging 201 class. It’s about to come to a close so now seems an appropriate time to thank Krista and the WordPress team for their leadership and expertise, and all participants for generously sharing their blogs and thoughtful insights.
Today I’m setting up a calendar to schedule my blog posts. – So I can keep track of each series: Favorites, Product Spotlight, Inspirational Quotes, and Sundays are for Sharing. I’m also adding important dates such as Mother’s Day (both the British and American versions), St. George’s Day, and even National Tooth Fairy Day – days that inspire giving.
Sundays are for Sharing…
I just discovered that yesterday was Cheer Up Day. The attached post reminds us to delight in the everyday gifts around us.
Also known as Cheer Up The Lonely Day, this is a time to recognize those in our neighborhood who have no family nearby, particularly the elderly. The aim of this day was to encourage people to brighten the day of those in nursing homes, through visits. Taking along some cookies, reading material or photos are all gestures of kindness that would be appreciated.
Take the time to spread a little cheer this Sunday.
Today is Cheer Up Day.
Your homework is to look for the small delights that can bring cheer into the nooks and crannies of your life.
Here are images to start you off!
Enjoying family and friends;
A child’s smile and to hear their laughter and excited shouts as they play;
Appreciating the freedoms we take for granted;
Delighting in Mother Nature’s fanciful treats;
Knowing you have what it takes to make your dreams come true; it’s just a matter of time!
You can do it!
I’m so proud of you!
Your Friend and Pep Pal,
Seeking to improve my blog and convey my ideas in the most effective and interesting way, I signed up for Blogging 101, part of the WordPress Blogging University. I’ve just completed the course and learnt so much. Given that my blog is about giving, including being thankful, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank our coordinator, Michelle, and my fellow bloggers. Everyone was so generous, taking the time to check out other blogs, to post encouraging comments, and to ultimately ensure a friendly environment in which to learn and build our sites together. I hope to maintain these connections and strive to devote more energy to reading and participating in the blogosphere. There is so much creativity out there!
Thank you all!
