Our little girl turned two yesterday and of course we celebrated. We had a cake, allthough admittedly I did not make it myself. (I applied my creativity in other areas, which I will share at a later date.) So cakes have been on my mind lately…
On Friday I came across this beautiful creation by Sugar & Cloth – wow! And better still it sounded like something I could put together myself. (You should check it out.) How captivating would this be at any age?
I was also intrigued by the funfetti cake recipe on The Sweetest Occasion. I’d never experienced this type of treat growing up (maybe it wasn’t a British thing?), but it does seem rather magical. – Sprinkles are always appreciated where children are involved.

I found additional inspiration for the future on The Cake Blog. This site has some seriously amazing bakers contributing, including The Cake Girls who made our wedding cake. This Paper Garland Cake by Erica OBrien would thrill a little girl. I love the idea of the amazing edible decoration, but this could easily be adapted to suit a more modest (basic!) skill level.

Have a yummy Sunday!
