This mailing landed on our doormat and caught my eye: you can acquire your very own plush Tyrannosaurus Rex packaged in a carrier crate. Who wouldn’t want a T.Rex as a pet? I thought of all the children I know. This seemed like the ultimate gift to tote around over the holidays.
This is The Field Museum of Chicago’s imaginative adopt an animal for the holidays, inspired by their impressive dinosaur skeleton, Sue. Apparently all existing T. Rex have simple, traditional names: Sue, Stan and Jane, for example. I could imagine the deliberations over naming such a new family member. Coming with an adoption certificate, sticker and invitation to Members’ Nights behind-the-scenes, this package would definitely appeal to a future paleontologist. I plan to get my name on the adoption register very soon.
