One Matters

It’s Chicago Ideas Week and I’m there.

Yesterday I attended the talk Giving: One Matters. I was intrigued by the synopsis:

One dollar, one hour, one click. One matters. Despite a struggling economy, charitable giving has been on the rise. Now more than ever, one person really can make a difference.

Philanthropy is the ultimate form of giving and it heartened me to hear such a sentiment being discussed. The advocates on stage were inspiring; an individual truly has the power to achieve so much through giving, not just of money or things, but through effort. The effort of doing something of their own volition or by rallying their peers.

I am inspired. I am motivated. I am humbled.
