A recent visit to Roy Lichtenstein: A Retrospective at the Art Institute of Chicago inspired me to think of gift wrapping. The pixelated, punctuated canvases were striking and immediate in their appeal, something you often strive for in present giving too. I captured the bold, chromatic images with my camera (one of which is shown here) and filed them away to memory – both computer and human. Whilst strolling through Whole Foods a couple of weeks later I spotted this lunch bag which recalled the artwork. I thought this could make a great gift for a foodie, or just a thrifty someone who takes their own lunches to work. I would add food treats (honey almonds or yogurt-coated pretzels), wrapped in actual comics, sealing the bag with an oversized bow fashioned from polka dot ribbon. – Creating a real Pop Art composition.
